About

Material Advantage (MA) strives to enrich the experience of students with an interest in Materials Science and Engineering (MSE). We hold meetings and events which provide networking opportunities for students, build relevant career skills, and establish MSE traditions. Dues-paying MA members also receive national membership to four preeminent professional societies.

Accomplishments

Material Advantage at ASU is dedicated to connecting students with opportunities beyond the classroom through industry partnerships, professional development, and technical programming. Throughout the year, we organize company presentations, networking events, laboratory tours, and career workshops that help prepare members for internships, research, and careers in materials science.

Our flagship event is the annual Material Bowl, hosted by ASU, where students from Arizona State University and the University of Arizona compete in a materials science capstone competition while networking with faculty, alumni, and industry representatives. This long standing tradition showcases the strength of Arizona’s materials science community and highlights our chapter’s commitment to academic excellence and professional engagement.
