2025 October Updates π
Happy Halloween!!!
October has been an exciting month for us at the IEEE Student Branch at ASU, filled with events that connected students with faculty, industry leaders, and the global IEEE community. From research panels to international collaborations and fall festivities, our members have been actively engaging, learning, and growing as engineers and innovators.
IEEE Day 2025
On October 7th, we celebrated IEEE Day with an exciting mix of keynote talks, networking, and fun! Students connected with professionals, explored how IEEE supports career growth through mentorship and technical programs, and discussed how emerging technologies like AI are reshaping engineering fields. The event wrapped up with Italian food, raffle prizes, and plenty of community spirit, the perfect way to honor innovation and collaboration across the global IEEE network.

Research, Innovation, and Industry Connections
This month, our members engaged in a variety of events that connected them with ASU faculty, international IEEE branches, and industry professionals shaping the future of engineering.
Faculty Research Panel
Co-hosted with IEEE-HKN ASU, this panel featured ASU professors discussing their work in biosensors, quantum computing, power electronics, and digital signal processing. Students learned about the undergraduate research process, graduate study preparation, and ways to get involved in cutting-edge projects.
Panelists included Dr. Michael Goryll, Dr. Mike Ranjram, Dr. Christian Arenz, and Dr. Tracee Jamison-Hooks.
IEEE Nfinity Bench
Organized in collaboration with IEEE ITS (Indonesia), this global program brought together student branches worldwide for interactive sessions, team-building games, and focus group discussions. Participants developed teamwork, leadership, and cross-cultural communication skills while earning certificates to mark their international collaboration.
IEEE AI Xchange Conference
Hosted by the IEEE Phoenix Section, this interdisciplinary event explored real-world applications of AI in fields like agriculture, construction, and sustainability. Students networked with professionals and learned about how AI-driven innovation is transforming industries.
LebNet Semiconductor Panel:
Our partnership with LebNet introduced students to leading engineers from AMD, ASM, Synopsys Inc. and Intel who shared insights on the evolving semiconductor ecosystem. Panelists discussed chip design, packaging engineering, thermal management, and how AI is revolutionizing the field. The session concluded with an open Q&A and advice on fellowships, internships, and mentorship opportunities available through LebNet.
Undergrad Day
To close out October, IEEE hosted a festive Undergrad Day where members got creative carving pumpkins with designs ranging from Mike Wazowski and Jack Skellington to classic bats and jack-o-lanterns. Our members had a fun and relaxing night celebrating Halloween and strengthening our IEEE community.

Board Member of the Month: Brock Imbernon

As our Undergraduate Activities Chair, Brock played a key role in planning Undergrad Day and supporting student engagement throughout October. Weβre grateful for his enthusiasm and dedication to creating meaningful experiences for our members!
