About

The Sun Devil Semiconductor Club(SDSC) is a student-led organization dedicated to making semiconductor manufacturing accessible through hands-on, end-to-end chip fabrication. Semiconductor manufacturing is a field that is often inaccessible to students due to high costs, specialized equipment, and technical barriers, despite strong and growing student interest. Our club works to bridge this gap by giving members the opportunity to directly engage with the tools, processes, and challenges involved in building semiconductor devices.

Our current goal is to fabricate 10-micron resolution NMOS transistors, and students are deeply involved in the work required to reach that milestone. Members gain practical experience by building and refining lithography setups, mixing and testing chemical processes, and troubleshooting fabrication challenges in real time. This hands-on approach allows students to develop a working understanding of semiconductor manufacturing that goes far beyond theory.

Through building tools, running experiments, and sharing their work with others, members of the Sun Devil Semiconductor Club gain meaningful, hands-on experience that prepares them for careers in the semiconductor industry.
