About

Our primary programs are our L1 certification class program (member development) and our competition team for Spaceport America Cup (SPAC).

Our certification classes give students the baseline skills needed to pursue their own more ambitious personal projects through L2+ Member HPR. We highly encourage member HPR; it is the foundation for the expertise upon the IREC program exists.

Additionally, we run several technology development subprojects which produce new hardware for use to reduce costs of our cert program and redouble the ambition of our Spaceport America Cup entry without the risk of jeopardizing timelines for either.

Members propose subprojects after competition (June), write goals, costs, timelines, and testing schedules, and if funded, run them for the next 6 months in time for SPAC. Subprojects must culminate in flight-tested hardware by February, at which point we transition fully to SPAC rocket construction.

This is a competition club.
Ultimately, everything leads to IREC.

Accomplishment

Last year, we helped over a dozen students receive at least their Level 1 certification in High Power Rocketry. This year, SEDSRD is growing from seven to 67 active members.

We received the team sportsmanship award for the 2024 spaceport America cup

For the first time since 2019 ASU returned to compete in the 2024 Spaceport America Cup. We are excited to return in 2025.
