About

Chess Club at ASU (aka Sun Devil Chess) welcomes chess players/enthusiasts of all skill levels and backgrounds. We are a club that is interested in promoting chess in Arizona as well as establishing a fun environment for individuals to play chess and network with other players. We hold biweekly meetings with casual blitz, bughouse, and banter, along with monthly USCF-rated chess tournaments for ASU students to compete in and improve their chess skills. For individuals interested in more competitive play, we also have the Sun Devil Chess Team which participates in the Pan-American Intercollegiate Team Chess Championship each year during winter break as well as attending tournaments that support the community and promote chess. Anyone interested in learning how to play is also welcome and can receive instruction from one of our knowledgeable members free of charge.
